Becky Durichek, Teacher

Becky Durichek grew up in Northern Virginia and then Fredericksburg. She moved to Florida with her new husband, John Durichek, to start Osceola Adventist Junior Academy after finishing college at Southern Adventist University.  After teaching in Florida for four years, she moved back to Virginia to stay home with her children for the next 17 years. During that time she stayed actively involved in her passion for education by serving on the school board, tutoring students, substituting, home schooling her own children, and volunteering at local schools.

In 2007 Becky was privileged to return to teaching at her home church, Fredericksburg SDA Church, at Tree of Life Christian Preparatory School. Becky inspires students in their love of learning and helps them build a strong academic foundation.  Over the last few years at TLC Prep she has initiated several school wide programs including the annual Biography Tea, Award Winning Books Reading Program, and Ski Program. She oversees our Art Program taught by Vera Tourinho. This program includes all of our students visiting the National Gallery of Art and viewing masterpieces of studied artists and participating in the annual art show. Becky also looks forward to her literacy-themed camping trip each year.  In 2014, she was honored to receive the Columbia Union Outstanding Educator Award. Mostly she loves introducing her students to Jesus in everything they learn and do. She loves to foster that relationship so that Jesus becomes each child’s best friend!

CONGRATULATIONS to our teacher, Mrs. Durichek!  She was selected the Teacher of the Year for the Columbia Union for the 2013-2014 school year. Read about it HERE.
